Apple sets up a chip design team in Bengaluru

Bengaluru is one of the world's biggest chip-design hubs and following Google's footsteps Apple will also now have engineers there to work on its chip designs. Apple has recently acquired Intel's smartphone modem business in July and globally around 2,200 Intel employees will join Apple, along with intellectual property, equipment and leases. For the past couple of years, Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India.
