In a rare achievement, the scientists at the Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) have discovered 28 new variable stars in the Milky Way galaxy. The discovery could be crucial in advancing the knowledge about the composition of globular clusters. Variable stars are those stars whose luminosity changes due to periodical swelling or shrinking or external factors like eclipses.
