1.2 billion records lie exposed in a single server online

A black market of stolen and aggregated consumer data has been created by identity thieves, phishers, and other online scammers for over a decade and they use the data to break into people's accounts, steal their money, or impersonate them. Dark web researcher Vinny Troia found one such exposed and easily accessible trove in October that contained 4 terabytes of personal information—about 1.2 billion records in all.
