World champions England suffered one of their heaviest defeats in recent times as South Africa beat them by 7 wickets in the 1st ODI of the 3-match contest. Quinton de Kock’s 107 and Temba Bavuma’s impressive 98 formed a partnership of 173 and helped the hosts chase down England's 258-8 with 14 balls left. Earlier batting first, England's top order also trembled, falling to 131-6 before Joe Denly's fighting 87.
