Alex de Minaur pulled out of the Australian Open on Thursday due to an abdominal injury, as the men’s singles draw lost one of its strongest local players. The Australian no.1 aggravated the abdominal strain playing at the ATP Cup and was had to skip this week’s Adelaide International as well. The 20-year-old won three ATP Tour titles last year. Nick Kyrgios will now be the top-ranked Australian in the men’s draw.
