A career-best 95 from opener Paul Stirling and holding nerves in a nail-biting final over saw Ireland securing a four-run win over world champions West Indies in the first of a 3-match T20 series. Batting first, Stirling had steered Ireland to 208-7 in their 20 overs. Needing 15 to win, the Windies lost in the last over. It was only Ireland’s 2nd T20 win over West Indies who had beaten Ireland 3-0 in the ODI series.
