US is "ready to engage without preconditions in serious negotiations" with Iran after the countries' exchange of hostilities. In a letter to UN, the US justified the decision to kill top Iran General Qasem Soleimani as it’s an act of self-defense. Iran has retaliated by missile attacks at airbases housing US forces in Iraq. However, US will take action as necessary in Middle East to protect its personnel &interests.
