The printing of the new 500 Rupee notes, cost ₹4,968.84 crore, as told by the government post-demonetisation. At approximately ₹ 1,293.6 crores was spent on the formation of 365.4 crore pieces of ₹ 2,000 notes. However, till 8th December, the number 1,695.7 crore pieces of ₹500 denomination notes were printed. Due to this reason, there is a declining amount of surplus to RBI.
