State of emergency declared in Sri Lanka

A 10 days long state of emergency has been declared in Sri Lanka because of the communal violence that is happening in the country in between the Buddhists and the Muslims. Over the past year the tension was growing between the two communities and due to the rising trouble government sent troops to Kandy after a mob set fire to a Muslim-owned shop, imposing a curfew there on Monday to prevent further clashes.
