China will attack Taiwan if there is no other option to stop it from becoming independent, one of the country's top generals claimed. It’s a rhetorical escalation from China aimed at the democratic island that Beijing claiming its own for years. Li Zuocheng, chief of Joint Staff Department and member of Central Military Commission, has left the door open to using force based on a 2005 controversial emergency law.
