Polish mayor dies after being stabbed at a concert

Despite five hours in surgery after being stabbed in the chest on stage at a charity concert, the mayor of the Polish city of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz has died. The 53-year-old, who was in his sixth term as mayor, was allegedly stabbed by a 27-year-old assailant with a record of violent crimes. The assailant told the crowd that he blamed Adamowicz’s former political party Civic Platform for his jailing in 2014.
