The Pentagon had declared that the US will develop conventional ground-based missiles previously banned under the INF arms control treaty which has been withdrawn now. The US withdrew from the treaty citing Russia's alleged breach of the INF treaty. They claimed that Russia was producing and fielding an offensive capability that was prohibited under the treaty, thereby endangering the US and its allies.
