Saudi Arabia is set to abandon flogging as a form of punishment, according to latest media reports. The directive from the Gulf kingdom's Supreme Court has said flogging has to be replaced by imprisonment or fines. It’s an extension of human rights reforms by King Salman and his son, the country's de facto ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Saudi Arabia had executed record number of people (184) in 2019.
