Kejriwal's free travel for women in Delhi Metro, Buses to cost Rs 6.6 crore per day to exchequer

Nearly 30 lakh commuters use Delhi Metro every day, of which 25% are women, i.e. 7.6 lakh commuters/day. After announcing free transport for Delhi women, CM Kejriwal said the move is expected to cost Rs 700 crore to Delhi government till year end. He also said state govt would bear the expenses of the project. He added that the Delhi govt was not required to take permission from the Centre to implement it, which was yet to approve.
