Days after the violence that broke out during an eviction drive carried out to clear encroached land, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said "illegal settlers” are encroaching on government land and changing demography to capture Dispur by 2050. “Their common thought is to turn around the demography and emerge as the majority to take control of power at Dispur by 2050," Sarma said while mentioning encroachers in the Darrang district.
