With the Motor vehicle amendment bill being passed by the Lok Sabha, there will be a new outlook on the roads from here on as there will be higher penalties for offenders. Drunk driving will see the fines rise, whereas the driver licence validity has been reduced from 20 years to 10 years. Uber and Ola will have to get state licences as well to operate. Fines imposed on not carrying valid insurance is raised to 2,000.
