Ex-Peru President Dies; kills himself before police arrive to arrest

Former President of Peru Alan Garcia shot himself ahead of his arrest. Police officers were to arrest him over allegations of taking bribes from Brazilian construction company Odebrecht linked to a metro line building project in the capital. However, Garcia has repeatedly denied them. He was admitted to Casimiro Ulloa hospital where he was being treated for a bullet wound to his head, but he succumbed & died. Garcia was 69.
