Egypt’s public prosecutor has claimed filmmaker Shady Habash died in prison after mistakenly drinking hand sanitiser in his cell, thinking it was water. The filmmaker died inside Cairo’s Tora prison complex on May 2. He had been in jail for more than two years without trial, after accused of his involvement with a terrorist group and spreading false news after he produced a music video criticizing Egypt’s president.
