China slammed the new FDI rules of India, and said India's new rules for Foreign Direct Investment violate WTO principles of non-discrimination and are against free and fair trade. "The impact of the policy on Chinese investors is clear," a spokesperson of the Chinese embassy Ji Rong said while calling for changing the policy. The policies were ammended after China' attempt to acquire stakes in Indian firms amid lockdown.
