Army to induct women in military police

In 1st Big Move after Nirmala Sitharaman took over as the country's 1st full-time woman Defence Minister, Ministry of Defence has decided to induct women in military police. A proposal is being finalised for induction of approximately 800 women with a yearly intake of 52 per year, Lt Gen Kumar said. This move will help in investing gender specific crimes. Earlier, women were only allowed in selected wings of the Army.
