The Docuteller machine was installed in a wall of the Chemical Bank in Rockville Centre, New York. It was the first time that reusable, magnetically coded cards were used to withdraw money. The event was announced in a bank advertisement, which stated, "On September 2, our bank will open at 9:00 and never close again!"
