Chandrayaan-1, Insia's very first misson to the moon was launched on October 22nd in the year 2008 using the Polar Satelite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C11). This stelite made about 2400 orbits around the moon and the mission came to the conclusion when the communication with the spacecraft was lost on August 29th in the year 2009.
