Shri Kovind was born on October 1, 1945, in the hamlet of Paraunkh, Kanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. His beginnings were humble, since he came from a low-income household. On July 25, 2017, Shri Ram Nath Kovind was sworn in as India's 14th President. He was a lawyer by profession and had previously served as the Governor of the state of Bihar before ascending to the highest constitutional post. Shri Kovind brings to the office extensive experience working across the country, from grassroots to the supreme court and parliament. He has been a staunch supporter of societal equality and public honesty.
