Robert F. Kennedy was an American politician who was born on November 20, 1925, in Brookline, Massachusetts. In 1952, he ran his brother John F. Kennedy's U.S. Senate campaign. He was appointed chief counsel to the Senate committee investigating labour racketeering in 1957, but resigned in 1960 to manage his brother's presidential campaign. As Attorney General of the United States (1961–64), he led a campaign against organised crime that resulted in the conviction of labour leader Jimmy Hoffa. He was elected to the United States Senate from New York in 1964.
