Backstreet Boys' third studio album (their second in the United States) Millennium was released on May 18, 1999 by Jive Records. It was their first album to be released simultaneously in the United States and internationally. Millennium held the record for the most shipments in a single year, with 11 million sold in the United States by May 26th, 1999. It received five Grammy nominations and went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time, selling 24 million copies worldwide. The Backstreet Boys promoted Millennium with the Into the Millennium Tour, which went on to become one of the most successful tours of all time.
