He was born in Aomori in 1932 and was the first Japanese to compete in the Italian Kilometer Lance in 1964, achieving a new world record of 172.084 km/h. He skied down Mt. Fuji in 1966. Yuichiro Miura, an 80-year-old explorer, reached the peak of Mount Everest for the third time, making him the world's oldest person to do so. His path to that point had been defined by a series of unparalleled adversities. He chose to make a third try at the age of 80 after successfully conquering Mount Everest for the second time at the age of 75.
