Microsoft announces the release of the Xbox One in 2013.
Microsoft revealed the Xbox One on May 21st, with a release date of the end of 2013. While the name was kept under wraps, the Xbox One announcement verified many of the theories that had been floating about for months, if not years. These include live TV support, a new Kinect, enhanced specs, and a slew of new next-generation titles – but there are still a slew of issues Microsoft must answer regarding the One before gamers can get a full image of the company's latest platform. Microsoft capitalised on what made the Xbox so successful in the first place: streaming entertainment and huge franchises such as Call of Duty and Halo. The latter even had its own TV show.
