The Tamil Iyer actress was born in Palakkad to Krishnan and Uma Krishnan and received her higher education at Ethiraj College in Chennai. She then became a model and earned the Miss Salem title in 1999. Trisha Krishnan made her cinematic debut when she was granted a modest cameo role in the film Jodi. However, Priyadarshan's Leysa Leysa was the first film in which she agreed to play the leading lady. She was, nevertheless, ideally matched for her part opposite Surya in Mounam Pesiyadhe, for which she received critical praise.
