In 1995, WikiWikiWeb was made Public and it was accessed by All
The first wiki, or user-editable website, is the WikiWikiWeb. Ward Cunningham, a programmer, established it on March 25, 1995, to accompany the Portland Pattern Repository website, which discussed software design patterns. The term WikiWikiWeb was initially used to the wiki software that powered the website, which was created in Perl and eventually renamed "WikiBase." Users typically refer to the site as "Wiki," and a practise formed among users of the early network of wiki sites that followed was that using the term with a capitalised W referred exclusively to the original site.
