In the year 1492 Martin Behaim presents the world's first globe called his terrestrial globe Erdapfel, or Earth Apple.
Martin Behaim created the Erdapfel, a terrestrial globe, between 1490 and 1492. The Erdapfel is the oldest terrestrial globe still in existence. It's made up of two halves of a laminated linen ball with wood reinforcements and a map painted on gores by Georg Glockendon. The map was drawn on paper and then pasted around the globe on a layer of parchment.
