Telangana Rashtra Samithi was victorious in the April 2014 general elections, obtaining 63 of the 119 seats and forming the government. Sri K Chandrashekar Rao was sworn in as Telangana's first Chief Minister. Telangana was established as a physical and political entity on June 2, 2014, as the 29th and youngest state in the Union of India. However, it has a rich history of at least two thousand five hundred years or more as an economic, social, cultural, and historical institution. Megalithic stone monuments such as cairns, cists, dolmens, and menhirs discovered in different districts of Telangana demonstrate that human habitations existed in this region of the nation thousands of years ago.
