On this day, June 7, 1975, the inaugural Cricket World Cup began. The tournament was held in England from June 7 to June 21, 1975, and eight countries took part, including India. In contrast to today, the competition was held in customary white attire. It was performed at seven different places in England. England hosted all three world cups because the International Cricket Council (ICC) deemed the country was capable of organising the events. Australia and the West Indies played the final match, with Australia hitting 274 and the West Indies scoring 291/8.
