Ram Nath Kovind, an Indian politician born on October 1st, 1945, has been India's 14th and current president since July 25, 2017. He is a Bharatiya Janata Party supporter. Additionally, he is the first citizen of Uttar Pradesh to hold the office of Indian President. Prior to taking office, he served as the 26th governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017, and from 1994 to 2006, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha. He practised law for 16 years in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India before entering politics. He did so from 1993 to 1997.
