Azim Hashim Premji (born July 24, 1945) is a former chairman of Wipro Limited and an Indian businessman, investor, engineer, and philanthropist. Premji is still the founder chairman and a non-executive member of the board of directors. Informally, he is known as the Indian IT Industry's Czar. He was in charge of steering Wipro through four decades of diversification and expansion to become one of the software industry's global leaders. He was named one of Asiaweek's top 20 most powerful men in the world in 2010.
