One Direction, also known as 1D, is an English-Irish pop boy band that was founded in 2010 in London, England. One Direction was founded on July 23, 2010, to be precise. Stephen Cowell Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson make up the group; Zayn Malik left in March 2015. Following their formation and third-place finish in the seventh season of Britain's televised singing competition The X Factor in 2010, the group signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Records.
