National Geographic publishes the first natural-color underwater photographs in 1926.
This is the first colour underwater photograph ever taken. It's a hogfish that National Geographic photographer Charles Martin and Dr. William Longley caught off the coast of the Florida Keys in 1926. To light the scene, the duo used pounds of highly explosive magnesium flash powder in addition to some special waterproof camera housing.
