Jai Singh I (15 July 1611 – 28 August 1667) was the Raja of the Kingdom of Amber and a senior Mughal general ("Mirza Raja") (later called Jaipur). Raja Bhau Singh, his grandfather, was his forefather. On the accession of Shah Jahan, Jai Singh took his first step toward greatness (1627). Jai Singh's commander in the Deccan, Khan Jahan Lodi, and his Afghan followers took advantage of the change of sovereigns.
