Raaj Kumar (born Kulbhushan Pandit on October 8, 1926, and died on July 3, 1996) was an Indian actor who appeared in Hindi films. In a career spanning four decades, he appeared in the Oscar-nominated 1957 film Mother India and over 70 Hindi films. Kumar died of throat cancer on July 3, 1996, at the age of 69. In an interview with Farhana Farook, his son Puru Raaj Kumar stated that his father had Hodgkins disease for which he received chemotherapy. The nodes in his lungs and ribs recurred in the last two years of his life.
