Kobe Bryant, an American basketball guard, dies in a helicopter crash in 2020 at the age of 41.
Kobe Bryant was one of the all-time great basketball players who died too soon in a helicopter crash. On January 26, 2020, a Sikorsky S-76 helicopter carrying Kobe, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven other passengers, including the pilot, took off from Orange County, California. The chopper crashed into the side of a hillside near Calabasas less than an hour after taking off. The NTSB ruled that the accident was caused by the pilot's mistake and choice to fly into heavy clouds after a year of inquiry owing to the lack of a black box in the helicopter.
