Anita Ekberg, 83, died on January 11, 2015, in the facility San Raffaele in Rocca di Papa, Roman Castles, after consequences from chronic diseases. After being pushed down by one of her pet Great Danes, which shattered her hip, the actress had been in a wheelchair for several years. Ekberg's funeral was conducted on January 14, 2015, in the Lutheran-Evangelical Christuskirche in Rome, after which her body was cremated and her ashes were buried in the graveyard at Skanör Church in Sweden.
