The state of Ajaigarh is handed to the Government of India in 1950.
On January 1, 1950, Ajaigarh acceded to the Government of India, and the governing chief was awarded a privy purse of Rs. 74,700/-, as well as the courteous use of his styles and titles. All of these advantages were withdrawn by the government of India in 1971, at the same time as all former princes' privileges were revoked. The former princely Ajaigarh was absorbed into the new Indian state of Vindhya Pradesh, with the most of the previous state's land, including the town of Ajaigarh, becoming part of Panna District and a tiny section going to Chhatarpur District. On November 1, 1956, Vindhya Pradesh was incorporated into Madhya Pradesh.
