Raghunath Anant Mashelkar, commonly known as Ramesh Mashelkar, was born on January 1, 1943, in Mashel, Goa, and raised in Maharashtra. He formerly served as the Director General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). He has also served as President of the Indian National Science Academy (2004-2006), the Institution of Chemical Engineers (2007-2008), and the Global Research Alliance (2008-2009). (2007-2018).
