Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani, better known as Dhirubhai Ambani, was an Indian business mogul who created Reliance Industries on December 28, 1932. Ambani took Reliance public in 1977 and was worth $2.9 billion at the time of his death in 2002. He was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour, in 2016 for his services to commerce and industry.
