Raj Kapoor, sometimes known as Ranbirraj Kapoor, was a prominent Indian cinema actor, producer, and director of Hindi films. He won seven Filmfare Awards and was nominated for the Grand Prix at the 1953 Cannes Film Festival. Raj Kapoor was born in Peshawar, North West Frontier Province, British India, on December 14, 1924, to Bollywood actor Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Devi née Mehra. In the Hindu Pathan family, he was the eldest of four children. He is the grandson of Dewan Basheswarnath Kapoor and the great-grandson of Dewan Keshavmal Kapoor, both of whom are members of the illustrious Kapoor dynasty.
