Shashi Kapoor (born Balbir Raj Kapoor; 18 March 1938 – 4 December 2017) was a Hindi cinema actor and producer. He was nominated for four National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards, and he appeared in a number of English-language foreign films, notably those produced by Merchant Ivory. He died of aspiration pneumonia at the age of 79.
