She has won numerous awards, including the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as nominations for an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and four Golden Globe Awards. She made her acting debut in the anthology film New York Stories with the short Oedipus Wrecks, directed by Woody Allen. She was then recognised for her role as Claudia, a child vampire, in the horror film Interview with the Vampire, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
