At the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards in 2013, Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna is named "The First Superstar of Indian Cinema."

Rajesh Khanna died on July 18, 2012, after being extremely unwell. Khanna was posthumously given the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian honour. At the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards on April 30, 2013, he was officially named the "First Superstar of Indian Cinema." He has also received a stamp and a statue in his likeness, as well as having a road named after him.
