She has received four Filmfare Awards South, six South Indian International Movie Awards, and two Andhra Pradesh State Nandi Awards. She has risen to prominence as a leading actress in Telugu and Tamil cinema. She was raised in Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as the family's youngest child, alongside two older brothers, Jonathan and David, while learning Tamil. Despite her mixed ethnicity, she has identified herself as Tamilian. Samantha attended Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School as part of her education.
