For the first time, color television transmission began in Delhi in 1982.
To commemorate the occasion, the state-owned television network shared the video above on its official Twitter account, which depicts its famed revolving logo — in colour. "On April 25, 1982, Doordarshan began the test run of India's first colour transmission," the caption says. This was a huge accomplishment at the time since it revolutionised television viewing for Indian viewers. This enabled sports enthusiasts to watch the Asian Games in colour that year. Soon after, Doordarshan debuted the first Indian soap opera, Hum Log, followed by blockbusters such as the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.
