Sur Singh, the Raja of the Marwar Kingdom, was born in 1571.
Sawai Raja Sur Singh, also known as Suraj Mal, was the Raja of the Marwar Kingdom from 24 April 1571 until 7 September 1619. His sister was Emperor Jahangir's third wife and Shah Jahan's mother. On his father's death on July 11, 1595, he ascended to the throne. In acknowledgment of his great achievements, he received the hereditary title of Sawai Raja from Princes Murad and Daniyal Mirza in the conquest of Gujarat and the Deccan for Emperor Akbar. On September 7, 1619, he perished while on active duty at Mahaikat, Deccan.
